Five Decades of Dedication

It has been said that teaching is a calling, not a profession, and that is certainly the case with the 25 teachers and staff members that Fairmont Private Schools honored on August 24, 2010. Among those recognized was Hilda Hosmer, a spry octogenarian who has worked in various administrative positions at Fairmont for 50 years! Today, Hilda works in Fairmont's reprographics department helping to supply teachers with the classroom materials they need for daily instruction. In her 50-year history with the school, she has seen the advent of computer technology and the internet. Chalkboards have been replaced with interactive white boards. Uniforms and dress codes have adjusted to reflect modern sensibilities. Still, much has stayed the same. Whether involved in day-to-day classroom instruction or behind-the-scenes in support roles, veteran employees like Hilda are passionate about making a difference in children's lives and have committed decades of their own lives to helping Fairmont Schools achieve its mission.
