Fairmont International Academy (FIA) offers a one year program as a bridge between academic programs throughout the world and elite college preparatory high schools within the United States. Drawing on its 56 years of history and exceptional reputation within Southern California, Fairmont provides international students with a concentrated ESL and cultural experience specifically designed to help them succeed in high school and gain acceptance to some of the country’s top colleges and universities.
In addition to facilitating their mastery of the English language, students gain the study skills, and cultural understanding necessary to succeed in the American high school environment—a setting that may be academically and socially overwhelming to students who have not received thorough preparation. FIA graduates do exceptionally well in their high school studies, enrolling in challenging Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate coursework and earning impressive grade point averages which make them attractive college applicants. They are also active participants in student life, serving as officers in clubs, participating in the arts and athletics and contributing through community service.
By strengthening their command of English and confidence in the academic environment and by raising their cultural awareness, FIA students have the foundation they need to achieve at their highest levels in high school and beyond.
