137 High School Seniors Graduate From Preparatory AcademyJune 2008 |

ANAHEIM, CA - June 5, 2008 – Fairmont Preparatory Academy bid farewell to 137 graduating high school seniors at its 12th annual Commencement on May 29. Collectively, the Class of 2008 was awarded close to $1,000,000 in scholarship funds. "There is a very special atmosphere that surrounds high school graduation," said Robert Mendoza, Fairmont Preparatory Academy's Headmaster. "Our students' successes are our successes. We want to see our students excel, leave their mark on society and make the world a better place." Fairmont's graduates will attend some of the nation's top universities and colleges, including: ! Amherst College ! Carnegie Mellon ! Johns Hopkins University ! Princeton University ! Purdue University ! Syracuse University ! University of Southern California ! U.C. Berkeley ! U.C. Davis ! U.C. Irvine ! U.C.L.A. ! U.C. Riverside ! U.C. San Diego ! U.C. Santa Cruz Fairmont Preparatory Academy is unique in Southern California in that it offers not only an exceptional all-around academic program, but that students also have the opportunity to pursue highly advanced coursework through the Medical Magnet and Advanced Math programs. Students may also participate in the prestigious International Baccalaureate (IB) program. The average GPA for Fairmont's five IB diploma recipients was 4.31, and their average SAT score was 2096. Dr. Gary Sailes, Indiana University associate professor, delivered the evening's honorary address. Medical Magnet Program students Amy Su and Deryck Matallah served as the ceremony's valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively. |
